[The names of the grantees of land grants].

An original land grant charter, with names of some 64 individuals, and directives authorizing 500 acres (2 tracts) for Benning Wentworth, as well as plots to be set aside for the Church of England and for a school. The charter is signed by Theodore Atkinson, secretary. The name of the town bordering the land grant is Arlington, a town in what is now western Vermont but which was part of the territory over which the Province of New Hampshire claimed jurisdiction. The land grant contains a hand-drawn square with "Due west by Arlington six miles, due north by six miles, due south by six miles, due east by six miles" written on each of the four sides, respectively.
